Profiling physicians' meeting preferences

By Ashfield Meetings & Events

Does medical specialty and the number of years in practice influence opinion of medical meetings?

In February of 2018, and following on from a 2016 study, Ashfield Meetings & Events, Part of UDG Healthcare Plc, set out to better understand the importance of medical meetings to physicians. We looked at why they attend these meetings, what makes a meeting a valuable investment, and how Healthcare Professionals (HCPs) evaluate a return on their investment. The full white paper can be found here.

Key outcomes find that HCPs are stating that their ‘preferred channel’ to receive scientific content across their medical learning journey, is through attendance at a scientific congress or meeting.

We asked “What makes attendance at a scientific congress or meeting so impactful to physicians?” Is it the ability to network, to find out the latest content or to interact and engage with leading KOLs? Our objective was to pinpoint specific preferences, learning needs and motivations, and determine whether medical specialty and the number of years in practice influenced opinion.

Are the challenges to attending meetings faced by HCPs that have been practicing for less than nine years, the same as those that have been practicing for over 30? Our aim has been to better understand the needs of each attendee type, based on therapy area or years in practice, to see how they consider the current scientific meetings landscape.

Download this infographic to better understand the analysis and explore how you can engage with HCPs more effectively based on profiled data.
